Attorney at Law
ourtney G. Fernandez is an attorney at Hickman Robinson Yaege. In 2015, she started her legal career at the firm as a paralegal and has continued to zealously serve clients in both litigation and transactional matters. Courtney’s practice areas include business/corporate law and real estate law.
She graduated Magna Cum Laude from San Diego State University with a B.A. in Communication and Minor in Political Science. Shortly after, Courtney received her Paralegal Certificate with emphasis in General Litigation and Honors Distinction from the ABA-approved Paralegal Program at the University of San Diego. Courtney also holds an e-Discovery and Litigation Technology Certificate from the University of California, San Diego.
While working as a full time paralegal at Hickman Robinson Yaege, she obtained her Masters in Dispute Resolution from Pepperdine University. Her training in negotiation, mediation and arbitration taught Courtney to employ a problem-solving approach to mindfully manage her client’s goals. She believes strong interpersonal skills and cultural competence are essential keys to resolving conflicts and achieving results for her clients.
Invigorated to expand her opportunities to advocate for the firm’s clients, she began law school at the ABA-accredited, hybrid online J.D. program at Syracuse University in New York. During law school, Courtney was an Editorial Member of Syracuse Law Review and a Senator in the Student Bar Association. She also studied in Strasbourg, France as part of Syracuse University’s study abroad program for an immersion course in European and International Human Rights Law. In 2023, she served as a Judicial Extern for the Honorable William Q. Hayes, United States District Court, Southern District of California.
Courtney actively participates as a member of the Welsh Inn of Court, Lawyers Club of San Diego, Women in eDiscovery – San Diego Chapter, and San Diego County Bar Association. In her free time, Courtney enjoys yoga, paddleboarding, and traveling.
